Born in DeKalb County, TN on the 23 September 1844.
He enlisted on the 17 September 1862.
Captured near Murfreesboro 28 January 1863 and sent to Camp Chase.
Was exchanged 28 March 1863 at City Point, VA.
Wounded by a shell at the Battle of Chattanooga, 23-5 November 1863.
Admitted with a wound to Way Hospital, Meridian, MS, 17 January 1865.
He served until the end of the war and was paroled at Greensboro, NC, 1 May 1865.
His brother was Thomas Hooper who was killed at Franklin.
Married Missouri Fisk Hooper with whom he had eight children.
Filed for a Pension, number #16151, on the 7 June1927 and was accepted.
He died on the 29 January 1931 and was buried in the Cannada (Kennedy) Cemetery in DeKalb County, TN, along with his wife.
