Born c 1836 in Warren County, TN, the brother of Hiram Taylor (Pomp) Kersey.

He enlisted on the 20 November 1862 for a period of three years.

Was AWOL for 20 days prior to January 1863 muster.

He went home, possibly to join the 'Short Mountain Bushwhackers' that were led by his brother, on the 14 October 1863 when near to Chattanooga.

He married Adaline Staner on the 18 September 1862 in DeKalb Co.

He died some time after 1880 when in Trousdale Co., TN.
